LOGO Design Questions to Ask Yourself
1. WHO is my target audience?
In order to do this, you need to understand what your BRAND IS. Just as men and women differ in taste, from color to design, so will your LOGO differ in its presentation. Did you know the color of your logo can evoke emotion from the viewer? Did you know the age range of your audience can also make a difference in how you market your business, from designing your website to social media coverage. It is imperative before you begin, to KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE! Is your BRAND silly? (Think Chuck E. Cheese) Creative? Serious? Risky? Ask yourself.... WHAT IS MY BRAND?
2. WHAT is the primary objective for my logo?
First impressions and professionalism matter, regardless of your business. Do you have a tagline to go along with your logo? What do people think when they initially see your logo? Are you portraying the image you desire for your business? What STYLE are you representing with your business? When you know this, it will help you determine the TYPE of design you seek. Words like Coca-Cola? Letters like IBM? Do you want an emblem only? Or a combination? What about your FONT? Is it silly to match your daycare, professional to match your finance business, or creative to show your design flair? WHAT IS YOUR STYLE?
3. WHERE will I use my logo?
When you determine your audience, you can determine where it is advantageous to advertise. IE: You probably wouldn't produce optimal exposure to advertise your new line of bikinis in a senior magazine or at an assisted living facility. Magazines? Flyers? Television? Banners? Website? Mass mailing? From weapons to tobacco, there are high risk businesses that are not allowed to advertise on social media such as Facebook. Though they may be allowed a presence, they are not allowed to boost posts. If they try to, they can be flagged and their page can be taken away for failure to comply. Those type of businesses will perform better utilizing other platforms of social media like YouTube and other marketing strategies like magazines and mass mailings.
4. WHEN do I need my logo completed?
When seeking a designer, make certain the two of you are on the same page, period. From design to your timeline, a "meeting of the minds" in what you are seeking. And you have an advantage as there are many wonderful designers available. We recommend you view their work and upon initial contact determine if they are listening to you about the image you want representing your company, and if they have the same timetable as you in mind.
5. WHY is a logo necessary in my field and or in my business?
By the way, trick question. Regardless of your profession, logos are always a good idea. Logos grant you and your business positive recognition and, in most cases, will become a primary function for branding your business and advertising.

Magazine Layouts
Full page, half page, and quarter page ads
I enjoy designing magazine layouts! My advertising experience began in 2006 when I started designing ads for real estate and commercial sales.
I've designed covers, full page ads, and half and quarter page ads for Real Estate Marketplace, Homes ans Land magazines, The Pennysaver and other magazines out of Florida in the mid 2000's. Should you be considering advertising in a magazine, contact me and I will be happy to share my thoughts and design ideas. Thank you, J. Lynn Trahan~ |
